Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen and mother of three, was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Jan. 7.

Eyewitness accounts and videos recorded at the scene show Good in her car as agents approach her stopped vehicle. One officer then fires at close range as she attempts to drive away.

“Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. She was extremely compassionate,” her mother, Donna Ganger, told the Minnesota Star Tribune. Good’s car was just blocks from her home when she was shot.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Good had tried to “weaponize her vehicle” to run over an ICE officer before he opened fire, a claim disputed by video footage. More than 2,000 federal agents had been deployed to Minneapolis as part of the Trump administration’s nationwide immigration enforcement crackdown.

The killing has sparked widespread outrage and prompted protests in New York City, Seattle, Chicago, and Minneapolis. In NYC, people gathered in Foley Square on Wednesday to demand accountability and call for an end to ICE’s raids and anti-immigrant policies.
